Case Study: The Supply Chain Council Managing and Sharing a Process Reference Model |
||
| The Supply Chain Council (SCC), a trade association of over 800 member companies focused on supply chain management, is using the Phios Process Repository tool to view and participate in on-line discussions about the Supply-Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model on the World Wide Web. The Council, incorporated in June 1997 as a not-for-profit trade association, offers members an opportunity to improve the effectiveness of supply-chain relationships from the customer’s customer to the supplier’s supplier. Members of the Council work cooperatively to develop, maintain, communicate, and support the SCOR model. SCOR is the only publicly available, cross-industry supply-chain reference model in existence. It contains standard process definitions, standard terminology, standard metrics, supply-chain best practices, and references to enabling information technology. It quickly become the de facto standard model for cross-industry supply chain modeling. Council members access the SCOR model in the Phios repository through a link on the SCC web page. They may then register as users at the Phios-hosted site, enabling them to navigate the model on line. By providing a single, integrated repository, the Phios software tools help systematically manage and maintain consistency among different parts, successive releases, and multiple versions of the model; such as industry-specific versions, foreign language versions, and versions for other special interest groups. The hosted model is revised regularly to reflect updates and enhancements. |
